Anthony Irpino is Devoted to Class Action: A Powerful Tool for Citizens against Corporate Interests

Since 1996, when he founded Irpino, Avin & Hawkins Law Firm, Anthony Irpino has been a creative and energetic advocate of victim’s rights in difficult and complex liability cases, helping to earn plaintiffs more than $350 million in settlements. He has fourteen years of experience working on behalf of plaintiffs, focusing on complex litigation in areas such as nursing home abuse, wrongful deaths, and Jones Act/Maritime law.

Anthony has a reputation as a leader in class action litigation, serving as class counsel for plaintiffs in more than forty (40) class action, multi-district litigation and mass joinder lawsuits involving pharmaceutical litigation, Hurricane Katrina, chemical releases, explosions, fires, contaminations and evacuations, among many others.

Because of his devotion to class action procedure, Anthony is an expert in strategic matters related to class actions and mass joinder cases. In most class actions he’s been involved in, Anthony has served in leadership roles of leading discovery, obtaining class certification, initiating and overseeing the Proof of Claim Process, and trial work.

Anthony has been class counsel in five (5) class action cases that have been tried to judgment. Fighting for the Homeless and the Poor

A native of Chicago, where his family owns a successful construction and real estate business, Anthony graduated from Tulane Law School and decided to plant roots in New Orleans. He is admitted to practice before all Louisiana courts, both state and federal, the United States District Court for the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association, and the Louisiana Association for Justice.

Outside of helping people in his professional life, Anthony helps others in his personal life as well. He is actively involved with the Ozanam Inn, H.E.L.P. (Homeless Experience Legal Protection) Program, and the Harry S. Thompson Center, where his energies are focused on providing legal services and guidance to the elderly, disabled, and homeless.

Anthony is keenly aware of the needs of low-income families and the homeless and supports affordable housing programs, sponsoring education for children of low-income families and providing meals and clothing for the homeless. In addition to giving free notary services for low-income people, Anthony and the Irpino, Avin & Hawkins Law Firm also provide subsidies for Chaplin work in hospitals and jails.
