Louise Crouchet Higgins brings to Irpino, Avin & Hawkins Law Firm a respected reputation as a fighter for human rights and justice. Since joining us in 2009, Louise has concentrated on solving complex personal injury cases as well as mass tort actions.

Born in the Crescent City, Louise received her undergraduate degree in management from Our Lady of Holy Cross College (now known as University of Holy Cross). In 2008 she received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans. In her final year of law school, Louise served as a law clerk with the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration Customs and Enforcement.

AWARD-WINNING ATTORNEY DEDICATED TO SERVING THE PEOPLE

Like everyone at Irpino, Avin & Hawkins Law Firm, Louise has been inspired and determined to rebuild New Orleans better than ever. In 2007, Louise received the Gillis Long Poverty Law Center Award in recognition of her efforts to rescue and save homeless animals after Hurricane Katrina. This award is presented to members of the law community who exemplify service to those in need outside of a normal workday.

Through the years, Louise has continued to give her time, talent, and treasure to organizations important to her:

  • For six years she served on the Board of Directors of New Orleans Speech and Hearing Center – one year as Board President. NOSHC is a non-profit founded 85 years ago to provide services to children with hearing and speech disorders. Over the years the mission has expanded to reach thousands of children and adults annually by providing services that are meant to improve their quality of life.
  • For several years, Louise has served on the Parent Teacher Cooperative Board of St. Michael Special School. As a board member, Louise has twice chaired the Information Fair which connects resources with school families that so desperately need ongoing information. The 2020 Fair connected over 30 resource providers (including government and private entities) with families.

Louise is admitted to practice before all Louisiana state and federal courts, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Tax Court.
