Wicker says BP claims slow

Republican Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi met with and urged the administrator of the BP oil spill compensation fund Wednesday to speed up the claims process citing complaints of delay related to payments and eligibility.

The Louisiana Record is reporting a New Orleans resident is suing the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after falling through the floor of his trailer.
Salvadore Battaglia filed suit on Nov. 15 in federal court in New Orleans.
According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred on June 28, 2007 when Battaglia was walking in his trailer and the floor unexpectedly collapsed causing Battaglia to fall and sustain serious injuries.

The Irpino Law Firm is very excited Judge Carl J. Barbier of New Orleans will be handling the federal lawsuits filed over the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. This is an important step to helping rebuild the lives and communities devastated by this disaster.
The five-page opinion said, “Without discounting the spill’s effects on other states, if there is a geographic and psychological ‘center of gravity’ in this docket, then the Eastern District of Louisiana is closest to it.”

For the past few years we’ve occupied a potion of the 22nd floor at Canal Place in the Central Business District of New Orleans. While we’ve loved our time downtown and being across the street from the French Quarter (a lot of fun we’ve had) we’re looking forward to moving into the Lower Garden District, Uptown into a great old house currently undergoing an addition and renovation to meet our needs.
We’ll keep you posted with our exact move date and new address.
